Luxury From the Ground Up: Designer Rug Collection

8 minute read time

Just like shoes, jewellery and any last-minute accessories can take an outfit from simple to bold; interior accessories can take your home to a whole new level of luxury. These items are often the last things we consider when we start cultivating our home's aesthetic, yet in reality they are wonderful products that truly highlight your personal style and bring a room together. Rugs are one of our favourite additions to any room because of their transformative effect. A rug not only alters the way the space looks, but it changes the atmosphere of any room making it a warm and cosy environment.

We advise choosing a neutral rug that highlights the accents in the room and brings the style together. Depending on the aesthetic of your home rugs can be moved from room to room to give a fresh feel to your interiors, making true investment pieces. Building an interior aesthetic starts from the ground up, and that’s why we take pride in our beautiful collection of designer rugs.

When you start to look around for the perfect rug for your home, quality is definitely something to consider. Whether you place this item in a busy area or in a quiet, cosy room, durability, quality and texture are incredibly important characteristics to consider. Investing in a luxury rug is like investing in your own personal interior style, a rug grounds the aesthetic of the room it's placed within and picking the right one is made easy as we have sourced the most beautiful rugs. Our selection of luxury rugs are all created from the finest quality materials and are designed to add the finest luxury touches to your homes interior space.

Styling Luxury Rugs

With a luxurious handcrafted rug, the question will always arise: how do I style it best? Part of the reason we love rugs so much is because of their flexibility, they can easily be changed and moved around to create the exact kind of environment and feel you’re looking for. What’s incredibly important to consider is the scale of the room you’re designing, how much space do you have to play with; as this will affect the choice of rug design and size.

What’s incredibly important to consider is the scale of the room you’re designing, how much space do you have to play with; as this will affect the choice of rug design and size.

A smaller space can use a rug to bring in a new level of texture without seeming too busy, making a more neutral rug a wonderful addition. A rug that slips into the harmony of a smaller room can bring about a new warmth through texture. While a larger room offers more space to break up colours and patterns, allowing your room to explore bolder hues and brighter patterns. These bolder choices can assist you in creating a colour scheme throughout a room and the rug can operate as the connecting tie between your other interior design choices.

Once you've decided upon the size and style the next question is where to place it. A rug that's placed under furniture completely to create the sense of a border around pieces creates an expansive style. The rug will separate the flooring from the layout of the furniture completely to create the feeling of a whole new room.

A rug that's placed completely on its own is a statement piece, where the rug is the focal point. This styling method works best in larger spaces where the rug is central to the theme of the room, it becomes the centrepiece through which the aesthetic of the room is articulated.

Another way to style your luxury rug is by considering which piece of furniture you want to accent in a room. If your couch is especially gorgeous or you want your bed to stand out in your bedroom, placing a rug underneath one piece of furniture in a room will elevate it to stand out above whatever else is in the room.  Rugs are not just for looking beautiful, they are wonderful ways to create a softer space – figuratively and literally! Due to their nature in design, rugs offer sound absorption and will quiet down high traffic areas in your home.

Featured Handmade Designer Rugs

The Cirrus Rug

With opulence in mind, the romantic combination of golden silks, cream wools and copper hues are brought together perfectly in one of our latest pieces, the Cirrus Rug. Not only does this rug warm the base of a room, but the colours attract a golden glow throughout the space, highlighting both a bold and brave energy within ones interior. Pieces like this create harmony in colour schemes and allow you to focus on featuring bolder furniture items, like a bronzed coffee table or beautiful warm-toned scatter cushions. The Cirrus Rug reflects light, creating a beautiful canvas on which to display your furniture.

The Ruina Rug

The Ruina Rug is another wonderful choice when it comes to investing in a piece which is made to last a lifetime. This piece adds a new dimension to a room by creating an interesting texture to build upon. Although flat, the intricate pattern displayed in the rug creates a sense of diverse movement.

The Ruina Rug best displays the power of intricate patterning in rugs, when you build upon a piece like this every item you place upon it is given a new dimension, attracting depth into the space, no matter how simple.  The more mute tones allow you to play with colour throughout the room - inspiring scatter cushions or even bright velvet fabrics on otherwise larger sofas such as the Hockney Modular sofa noted here. The use of a glass top coffee table enables the pattern to be better seen and admired, while enhancing the allusion of a bigger space within the room. Both Depth and space is achieved in a combination of skillful and contrasting rug colours and patterns alongside glass and mirror materials.

The Virgo Rug

Rugs don’t need to be muted or subtle, they can be bold and bright too! The Virgo Rug, featured here, makes use of beautiful blue and dynamic patterning to bring new energy to the room it's displayed within.

the exciting design displayed in a rug can bring a completely new element of style to a space without competing with other pieces. The bolder coloured sofas and more subtle coffee tables are paired perfectly even with the busier pattern of the Virgo Rug. The colours and patterns are designed to enhance the room’s energy, without taking away from any featured future pieces displayed within the same space.

Bolder interior accessories like our Virgo Rug allow you to invest in more classic and simple furniture items, scatter cushions and artworks while still exhibiting a playful and creative element within the space.

The Milky Way Rug

A positive contrast – rugs have the ability to brighten up a space, especially those that are a little smaller with less natural light, enhancing the atmosphere of the room to be a little brighter. The Milky Way Rug for example, displays light, warm and welcoming tones to an otherwise darker space. Not only does it provide a brighter canvas to display your furniture, but because of its honey-like colouring, it will create a more inviting, luxurious and decadant feel to any room it's placed into. Pairing the piece with heavier furniture pieces such as antique bronze coffee tables, darker coloured lamp shades or even hardwood exposed sofas becomes an option even in a smaller room – allowing for endless design opportunities.

The Chagall Chair

Even though each rug is visually and uniquely beautiful, what makes them truly special is how they're created. Each and every one of our luxury rugs is handmade with only the finest quality materials.

All four of our latest designer rugs have been crafted with only the softest and most luxurious wool and bamboo silks. When it comes to these interior accessories, the material used are just as important as the design and they can be tricky to master without only the most skilled craftsmen.

Adding value to your home, designer rugs that are handmade with the most delicate yet durable materials, will stand the test of time. With each step in the process of creation being taken into account, their construction begins with yarning, where the materials are gently turned from their natural state into yarn.

From there, master artisans weave and knot the fabric delicately into its design by hand. Handwoven and hand-knotted rugs are incredibly precious pieces, as the specialized craft techniques of each rug created has been passed down for centuries. With Gentle hands consciously knotting and weaving the fabric, each unique pattern and design comes to life.

Finally, the rugs are finished through a process of back burning, where the excess material from the backside of the rug is burnt out. Once the excess material is properly removed, the knots and weaves become visible – making the rugs clean and incredibly smooth.

We understand the importance of ensuring your design vision comes to life, enhancing any space with the appropriate finishing touches. With our luxury designer products being sourced and crafted with only the finest materials, each piece is will create a magical interior unique for you.
